Course Information
Overview
Those who may be exposed to asbestos during their work or work in the near vicinity to asbestos products are required to receive adequate and sufficient training so that they understand the risks.
Students will learn about safe working procedures for work with notifiable and non-notifiable asbestos-containing materials during the course, together with information about what asbestos is, where you can find it in buildings, the health effects from breathing in the fibres together with how risk from exposure to the fibres can be controlled. They will also be taught emergency procedures to follow if they discover broken ACMs or disturb the products themselves.
Who should attend
This training course is intended for anyone who may be required to undertake minor work on ACMs as defined in HSE’s Asbestos Essential Tasks sheets.
Entry Requirements
This course has no entry requirements. Students should have basic literacy skills, although it is not essential.
Teaching Learning Time
The course is delivered over 6 hours.
An additional 4 hours required for supervisors / managers / directors to deliver HSG247 Module 23
